During Art Basel 2024, Villa Nomad decided to show, not tell, what it stands for. The brief was simple yet ambitious: transform a week-long artistic-culinary playground into the ultimate—if costly—business card. Being introduced to culinary renegades Ghetto Gastro in Paris, we had the hook—“Let’s bring the vibe to Basel!”
To anchor the American collective locally, we partnered with Switzerland’s own celebrated duo Elif Oskan & Markus Stöckle, whose creativity and professionalism turned gastronomy into uncharted territory—think schnitzel on waffles and midnight lobster rolls. The result was Bronx Bodega Basel: a one-week hub where locals, collectors, international dealers, and art lovers collided under one roof. Equal parts bodega, gallery, and club, it became a living showcase of Villa Nomad’s ability to reimagine spaces, connect cultures, and push boundaries.

We orchestrated a comprehensive pop-up experience that rewrote the playbook for Art Basel activations. The pristine Herzog & de Meuron venue within the Novartis Campus in Basel was transformed into a buzzing bodega, draped with over 600 meters of custom-printed curtains by Subject Bureau, creating a kitsch-meets-chic backdrop for art, food, and nightlife. The main bar was taken over by Ramdane Touhami’s Hotel Drei Berge Café, while throughout the venue Gab Bois added playful artistic interventions—“Thank You” bags, fruit and vegetable installations—that twisted familiar bodega tropes into contemporary art statements.
